Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and Golden Raisins


Brussel Sprouts are my favorite vegetable there are so many delicious ways to prepare them whether in the oven, on the stove top or on the grill. I found this recipe in Bon Appetit magazine, it has a very unique flavor and great served with your favorite chicken or fish.

Serves 4 people


Ingredients:



2 tablespoons olive oil
2 thick slices Bacon
4 cups brussel sprouts, cut in half
Kosher salt 
Freshly ground Pepper
1/4 cup golden raisins
1 medium shallot, finely chopped
1/2 c low-salt chicken broth
2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Process:

Step one: Cook bacon in skillet until mostly crisp, transfer to paper towel.

Step two: Add olive oil to to pan, add brussel sprouts.

Step three: Over medium-high heat cook stirring often until well browned in spots and begins to soften approximately 5-8 minutes.


Step four: Reduce heat to low and add raisins and shallots, cook stirring often, until shallots are soft, approximately 3 minutes.

Step five: Add Broth to skillet and increase heat to bring to boil-scraping up brown bits.

Step six: Reduce heat to med low and simmer until broth is evaporated. 

Step seven: Stir in vinegar and crumbled bacon.

Step eight: Season with salt and freshly ground pepper and serve!
